Husch Blackwell welcomes former FBI agent Christopher A. Budke to its Kansas City, Mo., office. A former special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for over 30 years, Budke brings a broad range of investigative experience to the firm’s Government Compliance, Investigations & Litigation team. He will serve as a special investigator in criminal and civil matters, and lead internal investigations on behalf of companies and healthcare entities.
Budke formerly served as a special agent in the Kansas City, Las Vegas and New York divisions of the FBI handling complex multinational, national and regional criminal investigations with an emphasis on white-collar and financial crime, public corruption, healthcare fraud, organized crime, money laundering, criminal enterprise investigations and civil rights. Budke has investigated, testified and aided in the litigation of hundreds of federal and state criminal trials, and has presented grand jury testimony and summary case presentations in more than 50 investigations throughout five judicial districts.
For seven years of his service, Budke was a supervisory special agent, directly overseeing and managing the programs responsible for long-term investigations utilizing sophisticated investigative techniques to identify, disrupt and dismantle criminal threats posing significant risk at both national and local levels. During that time, Budke worked closely with senior law enforcement officials and political, community and business leaders throughout the country.
Budke passed all parts of the Certified Public Accounting examination. He received his B.S. in Criminal Justice and his B.A. in Accounting from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg (1983).
