Sofia’s path to becoming an attorney was driven by a longstanding dream to be a litigator, solidified through five years as a paralegal before law school. She was particularly drawn to mass tort and product liability after observing the demanding work ethic and dedication of asbestos litigators in Cook County.

As a law student, Sofia thrived in her intensive trial advocacy class. This hands-on experience, along with a judicial clerkship in Chicago, gave her a well-rounded perspective on legal arguments and judicial decision-making.

Sofia’s background as a paralegal involved managing numerous cases, conducting client interviews, and drafting legal documents, all of which honed her organizational skills and attention to detail. The experience provided her with a deep appreciation for the value of direct communication with clients.

Known for her commitment to professional growth and effective communication, Sofia offers clients a strong work ethic that makes her a valuable asset to any team.

On February 24, 2026, the Ninth Circuit reversed a judgment from the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana awarding damages to plaintiffs in a Libby, Montana asbestos case, holding that BNSF Railway cannot be held strictly liable for asbestos-contaminated vermiculite that accumulated on its tracks and railyard.
